You know those Chinese finger puzzles? The ones you stick your fingers into only to realize it takes the will of a Buddhist-Zen monk to set you free? Well imagine one with razor sharp teeth; Designed to be inserted into a woman’s yonic highway; Designed to ensnare the male phallic vehicle in such a way it has to be surgically removed while the man is, I would imagine, in excruciating pain. What you’ve been imagining is the brainchild of South African anti-rape campaigner Sonette Ehlers. Her invention, charmingly christened Rapex, has been making waves in South Africa recently so I thought I’d see if I could get a consensus on the subject.

I presume paedophiles are fairly smart people which is why they have existed since time immemorial; Sexual deviants who live in a dark, removed world and prey upon those most defenseless in our society. To survive and feed their hunger they must constantly stay ahead of the authorities, out of the watchful eye of parents (unless they themselves are the abusive parents) and generally out of the public’s scrutiny. I also suspect paedophilia is significantly more prevalent that most of us would have believe. Which makes the current global manhunt for the latest child-loving poster boy an important event.
I’ve noticed of late that paedophilia seems to be in the news ever more frequently. I don’t think, as some might, that this in indicative of an increasing number of predators but rather a consequence of growing awareness to the situation, better reporting on Read On! »
