It’s a well known fact that men and women appreciate humor in different ways. Now, a unicycling doctor at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has claimed that men are funnier than women because they have testicles, which in itself, is rather humorous (if you’re offended by testicle jokes, you must be nuts! That was horrific, we know). Professor Sam Shuster claims that humor is directly linked to aggression in males, an effect of exposure to testosterone in the womb.

Experiments by Shuster show that younger males were more prone to make abusive, jeering or snide remarks when he unicycled down a street. Aggressive humor diminished in older men who tended to make remarks similar to women; praise and encouraging statements. Indeed, while barely any women reacted verbally to his antics, nearly 75% of men commented with statements such as, “Lost your wheel?” Research showed that men not only make more jokes than women but also tend to be more aggressive in their approach, with other becoming the butt of their jokes more often.

Apparently, aggression resulting from the onset of puberty in young men is channelled into wit to hide an overt display of belligerence. It all sounds very profound and scientific; unicyling professors, jeering lads, winking women and the like.

Dr. Nick Weave at the University of Northumbria suggests that the behavior of the young males directly stems from the fact that they see the unicycling Shuster as diverting the attention of females. Aggressive humor seems to bring the attention back to them. It seems apparent, then, that unicycling is dead-sexy is some walks of life.

We men at the Womb confirmed that any untoward move to remove our testicles resulted in a dramatic loss of humor and an ensuing fountain of anger. It would seem Shuster’s hypothesis is sound.
