I would like to begin this week with a little Rugby. I honestly don’t know how many of you followed this year’s World Cup, or how many of you actually managed to watch Saturday’s final. Yes, it’s true England went into the World Cup lacking the form they showed back in 2003 when they were crowned champions. I mean, their performance against USA and South Africa in the group stages was pathetic. But they improved, and kept to their strategy. The forwards would be key, and we would have to dominate the scrum. And we did. Suddenly, we have beaten France (in France), and are in the finals, against South Africa. We played well, and with help of some dodgy referee calls, we lost. That looked like a try to me, his foot was in the air and hit ground after he spiked the ball past the try line. That would have changed the game. The Boks were given some weird penalties and of course, Montgomery did not miss them. Oh well… pride is left, because they did bloody well to get where to the final!
As I’m writing this, there are Champions League group games going on, but I’ll get to those in a bit. In the past few years, anyone who has followed Arsenal will say that Bolton have been a thorn in our spine. So, I must confess I was a tad bit nervous on Saturday. However, with the fantastic run of form the lads are showing, I figured we would be ok. Two late goals gave us three points, and are still at the top, followed by the Mancs after a solid display against Villa. I am confident this young team will win a major trophy this year. I still think it’s a bit too early to be talking about winning titles. These next two weeks will prove something, since we’re playing Liverpool and Manchester United. If we can get 6 points from those games, then I’m sure nobody will stop us! Haha … Manchester City and Liverpool won keeping the top four unchanged. And, to the surprise of everyone, Spurs lost! Oh deary me.
Now, to the 7-0 drubbing of Slavia Prague in the Group stages of the Champions League. Wow, I know we’re on form, but 7-0! And Theo scored two. I think Wenger is going to pull a Wenger with that kid and turn him into a superstar. I think with RVP out for the next month, we should see more Walcott/Adebayor games. With Fabregas in sublime form this season, those two should cause some major problems, even for the tightest defense! Let’s see. Manchester also won, but the great news was the important point Rangers got against Barca. Ha! It gives me such great satisfaction.
Right then… that’s pretty much all I remember from a hazy football/rugby weekend.

Amazing victory by Arsenal. Liverpool showed no form, and no ability to score in their defeat. Big EPL games coming up this weekend….. Man City vs Chelsea! Liverpool vs Arsenal! Any predictions?
I hope Man City takes out chelsea… but we’ll see what happens.
Liverpool-Chelsea is the game I am waiting on. I want to see how the new young Gunner team stacks up against the Reds. I wonder if the young players can hack it. Then again, like Benny Boy mentioned, Liverpool have been quite shite.
Well, I think this weekend is going to be key for both the Gunners and Liverpool. Confidence will be high after the thrashing of Slavia, and with Gerrard’s form under question, Arsenal should secure at least a point… 3 would be fantastic. All a build up for Manchester United. Chelsea aren’t exactly playing great football, but they are getting the results, and with City’s defense, it should also be a good one!
I am also a firm beleiver that Rafa’s rotation policy is screwing him over.
Wow… no more Jol in the Premier!!
Indeed, to be expected though, what a disastrous season thus far for them. I think it’s Ramos who is supposed to come in no? Mourinho would be a better bet me thinks. Wonder where the devil he is. On some yatch between some honey’s legs no doubt.
so this is where all the proper football discussions are being held! wicked! Well, to add something, i thought we were going to get those 3 points against liverpool. Now we have to focus on this weekends game against the manks. As long as we play our game, not get overwhelmed by who we are playing and not make any stupid mistakes like we did to concede against liverpool we should be fine. I have great confidence in our young team.
