I’ve written before about the small, independent and absolutely riotous radio station, Ace Radio Live. Today is their one year anniversary since they started broadcasting indie bands over the internet and I wanted to take the opportunity to congratulate the misfit ARL crew (WindJunkie-the aged, dirty sailor, BennyBoy-the sketchy, latin stallion and Pooh Girl-the remarkably well-endowed foil).

Ace Radio Live (broadcasting via the PirateRadioNetwork) was hardly newsworthy when they first launched. Indeed their first show was completely disjointed and awkward though the music selection was immediately excellent (credit to the DJs). In the one year since, production values have improved, the DJ’s have all taken on unique on-air personas and they continue to offer ever increasing publicity to indie, unsigned bands (primarily in the South Florida area though they broadcast and have listeners worldwide). Further, their no-nonsense commentary is a revelation in these days of FCC policing and censorship.

They’ve since moved over to a new host, BlogTalkRadio, and today have booked a two hour time slot for their anniversary show. They’ve got a fantastic lineup of music (Storm and the Balls, Juke Kartel, The Parents, Scarlett Grey, The Tommys, and more), guests and topics to discuss and I wholeheartedly recommend listening in. Be sure to catch their exclusive interviews with several bands and one with the elusive Geico Gecko.

Tell ‘em the BackWomb sent you, it buys instant credibility you see. Then again, they drink quite heavily during the show, so maybe they’ll just blow you off.
