Momofuku Ando, inventor of the Cup Noodle and Ramen noodle died earlier today at the age of 96.
Everyone of who has ever been to college needs to bow their head and observe a moment’s silence. Actually, those rich fuckers who had BMWs as freshman and the prim-proper ladies (who I never saw resorting to the Ramen diet even though it would have taken care of the freshman 15 easily) can just continue with life.
The rest of us know what kind of a loss this is. At some point in our college careers, we’ve all had to resort to the Ramen diet. A carefully balanced assortment consisting of “beef, chicken, veggie, seafood” and more, Ramen can be confirmed as a health food. The creator died at 96, after all, and was a big fan of his noodles.
Mr. Ando, there will forever be a spiritual noodle connecting you to the rest of us. Be a good samurai now and if you listen carefully, I’m sure you’ll hear the soft slurping of yet another Ramen into a grateful students mouth. Domo Arigato.
